Datong Song has been named full Professor of the Department of Chemistry, effective July 1, 2022. This promotion is a recognition of the research and teaching of Song in the area of inorganic chemistry. Song joined the University in 2006 as an Assistant Professor before being promoted to Associate Professor in 2011.
He and his group members study base metal catalysis, small molecule activation, ligand design, metal-organic frameworks, and luminescent materials. This honour also reflects his contributions to the department's graduate students and undergraduates, as well as to the inorganic chemistry sub-discipline.
