Remembering John Valleau

June 5, 2020 by Dan Haves

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of Professor John Valleau. John was a faculty member in our department and a founder of the theory group at U of T. He was a pioneer in the area of computer simulation and importance sampling in Monte-Carlo simulations, and conducted research in thermodynamics, electrochemistry, electrical double layers, electrolytes, and colloids. In addition to his contributions to the Department and science, John was also a passionate social activist. He will be missed by his colleagues and the broader chemistry community.

Professor Emeritus Stuart Whittington and Professor Raymond Kapral have penned this obituary for the Centre Européen de Calcul Atomique et Moléculaire.
