Diego Diaz (PhD '19) is the winner of the 2020 Chair's Gold Medal. Diego obtained his PhD under the direction of Professor Andrei Yudin. The title of his thesis is Identification of novel structural motifs for mining the conformational space of boron- and peptide-based molecules.
He made numerous contributions during his PhD, including investigating boron-containing molecules and their covalent reversible mode of interaction with protein targets and developing methods for understanding the behaviour of complex cyclic peptides.
Diego is currently an NSERC PDF fellow in the lab of Professor Eric Jacobsen at Harvard.
