Alán Aspuru-Guzik chosen for 2024 President's Impact Academy

Professor Alán Aspuru-Guzik is among this year's recipients of the President's Impact Award, for his pioneering work in the fields of artificial intelligence and quantum computing for materials discovery.

The President's Impact Academy is a group designated by the University to discuss matters relevant to research impact. They offer advice to the Vice President of Research and Innovation, and Strategic Initiatives, advocating for sustained excellence in research and innovation impact within and outside of the University.

He and his research group have pioneered the adoption of frontier technologies for solving problems in chemistry and materials science. In particular, Aspuru-Guzik is a pioneer in the development of algorithms for quantum computers to solve the electronic structure of molecules and materials. He and his group also pioneered the use of generative models for molecular discovery and the concept of self-driving laboratories (SDLs)."
