Mark Lautens: Without foreign exchange students, we lose vital transfer of knowledge

Professor Mark Lautens writes in the Globe and Mail about the importance of scientific exchange programs and how the pandemic has hindered research and learning efforts.

"While Zoom meetings are useful for sharing data and having a discussion, they are clearly not ideal for actually doing science in the laboratory," he writes.

"The hands-on experience of experimental work is vital to the transfer of knowledge."
